Graduate of Trevecca Nazarene College (now University) with an A.S. in Nursing and Middle Tennessee State University with a B.U. S. in Liberal Arts.
Post-baccalaureate work: Fisk University (teacher certification). Walden University with a Master’s in Education emphasis in Administration and Supervision.
Currently, I am enrolled in Western Governors University seeking a Masters of Arts, Science Education (Secondary Chemistry). My next step is to pursue an Ph.D in Educational Technology.
Before teaching, I worked as a Pediatric Nurse for 10 years. I then worked as a minor emergency nurse for 3 years.
I have owned my own business and have been partners in two other businesses. I currently am the co-owner of my own business, Ryare Creations.
In 1998, I started substitute teaching as I transitioned from nursing to teaching. In 2000, my certification career started at Jere Baxter Middle School where I was a substitute. I served as 8th grade team leader, Principal Designee, textbook coordinator, Co-Chairperson of the Science Department, Avid Site Team member, girls basketball coach, boys basketball coach, volleyball coach, Northeast volleyball scheduler, Eastern Division as well as City Basketball Tournament Director, athletic director, and on the MNPS Athletic Council. I returned in 2006 after I helped start the first charter school in Middle Tennessee serving at-risk students. I also was the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Fisk University here in Nashville, TN. From 2006 to 2012, I returned to Jere Baxter Middle school where I taught 8th Grade Science, Physical Science for H.S. Credit, Science Chairperson, Asst. Volleyball Coach /Northeast Scheduler, Boys Basketball Coach, Athletic Director, Textbook Coordinator, and currently on the MNPS Athletic Council. From 2012 to 2015 I taught at John F. Kennedy Middle School Prep where I taught 8th Grade Science, Physical Science for H.S. Credit. I was Co-Chair of the PBL committee, H. S. 101 Coordinator, Athletic Director, and 8th Grade Technology Lead. From 2015 to 2020 I taught at Wright Middle School where I was the athletic director, coached boys basketball, the coached high school football at Glencliff High School.
